The Washington Commanders have placed Marcus Mariota as the starting quarterback after dynamic rookie Jayden Daniels exited the game with a rib injury. He is officially questionable to return.

After being hit, Daniels was helped off the ground. He was then shown on the sideline with clear discomfort.
Shortly after, Daniels headed into the locker room to get an X-ray done.
Daniels has been fantastic through the first five games of the season that the Commanders have played. Excluding Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Daniels has put together 1,404 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Commanders have also shocked the NFL world along with the NFC East by being first place in the division with a 4-2 record. A win on Sunday would place them squarely in the driver's seat for the division once again.
At the time of this writing, the Commanders have pulled ahead with a 20-0 score against the lowly Panthers. Mariota has stepped in for the injured Daniels and is already putting together an impressive performance.
The hope is that Daniels has only suffered a minor injury and he can return to the field sooner rather than later. Daniels' mother decided to update the NFL world on the status of her son, revealing that everything appears to be ok.
According to the X account from Daniels' mother, she stated, "He's fine."
Granted, this is not a medical diagnosis of any kind, but it can be presumed that Daniels' tests on his ribs might be negative. If he had any kind of fracture or break, he would have to miss some time.
Daniels might just be sore and have to sit out the rest of the game, but he might be able to return to the field in Week 8.
The Commanders have been one of the biggest surprises of 2024 so far. Under new head coach Dan Quinn, the team has played complementary football on both sides of the ball.
Quinn came over to be the new head coach of the Commanders after the team relieved Ron Rivera of his duties. Previously, Quinn was the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys.
This isn't Qunn's first time as a head coach, as he previously led the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020. He has returned to the role of head coach with the Commanders and is doing a wonderful job thus far.
