Conjoined twins Abby Hensel and Brittany Hensel gave fans a rare look inside their life with Abby’s husband, Josh Bowling, and stepdaughter Isabella. In a new TikTok shared on Wednesday, October 30, the ladies urged their followers to vote and shared several photos of themselves with Josh and Isabella.
The first shot featured the twins sandwiched between the dad and daughter duo in an ice cream shop. There was also a never-before-seen photo that showed the group together at Abby, 34, and Josh’s 2021 wedding. Isabella looked adorable in her flower girl ensemble for the occasion.
There was also a sweet photo of the group sitting, with Isabella on one side of Josh and Abby and Brittany, 34, on the other. The twins included a “VOTE” sticker across Josh’s body in their TikTok video. In addition to the pics with Isabella, there were also three pictures of Josh with the twins on various occasions, including one from the wedding.
In March, Today was first to confirm that Abby and Josh had secretly tied the knot three years earlier. The twins previously appeared in a viral television interview in 1996 and documented their lives in Joined for Life: Abby & Brittany Turn 16 in 2006. They also had a reality show called Abby & Brittany, which lasted for one season on TLC in 2012.
Since the show ended, Brittany and Abby have retreated from the public eye and are living a more low-profile life in Minnesota. The sisters work as elementary school teachers.
Abby and Brittany’s bodies are fused at the pelvis. Brittany controls the left side of the body and her sister controls the right side. While they have many separate organs – each sister has her own brain, heart, spinal cord and stomach – their organs below the waist, including reproductive organs, are shared.
While the public has always wondered about how Abby and Brittany navigate their lives, speculation about the twins intensified when news of Abby and Josh’s wedding broke. “People have always been curious about us since we were born, for obvious reasons,” the women once admitted. “But our parents never let us use that as an excuse. We were raised to believe we could do anything we wanted to do.”
The ladies have not answered questions about the specifics of being in a relationship as a conjoined twin. “The internet is extra LOUD today,” they wrote on social media in March. “We have always been around.” The post included ancient sculptures of conjoined twins to point out that they are far from the first people to live like this.
When Abby and Brittany were teenagers, they admitted in their documentary that they wanted to get married and have children one day. “We haven’t thought about how being moms is going to work yet,” they said at the time.
Now, Abby is getting in practice as Isabella’s stepmother. Josh was previously married to Isabella’s mom, Annica Rose Bowling, who filed for divorce in 2019. She listed “irretrievable breakdown of the marriage” as the reason for the split in her divorce filing, according to court documents obtained by In Touch in April.
