Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine has opened up about her on-screen husband Alan Halsall.

Famed for her portrayal of Fiz Brown on the cobbles, Jennie spoke out about her soap hubby during an appearance on today's This Morning (November 22). Chatting to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary via video call, Jennie revealed the truth about the man behind Tyrone Dobbs.

Alan has taken time off the ITV soap to head to Australia to appear on I'm A Celebrity. He is enjoying time as camp leader alongside N-Dubz singer Tulisa. They are joined by the likes of WAG Coleen Rooney and social media star GK Barry.

The I'm A Celeb jungle is a tough time for any celebrity, and Jennie gave her two pence on how she thought Alan would fare against the elements. She seemed hopeful he would enjoy his time Down Under.

Dermot questioned whether Alan enjoyed the great outdoors or if he was a "homebody," and whether she felt scared for him, Jennie replied: "A homebody but also not nervous at all, no I wasn't."

She added: "I knew he'd be great, he is what you see, I knew he'd get on with people that's what you've got to do when you're there, get on with people, muck in.

"He is a homebody, he loves his home comforts but he is a bit of an adrenaline junkie. In his older age now he does less of it but back in the day he did. I think he would have loved a skydive or something similar. Anything a bit scary, he's alright with!"

While Corrie fans are delighted to see Alan competing in Bushtucker Trials, they may see less of Tyrone towards the end of the year and into 2025 as he takes a break from his role, which often involves filming up to six weeks ahead.

However, Alan confirmed he is not leaving the soap just yet. He said: "Corrie has been fantastic with it all and I am definitely not leaving the soap. You just won't see my character for a while on-screen," reported the Manchester Evening News.

Coronation Street is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
