Coronation Street viewers are certain that David Platt isn't the actual thief of Damon Hay's cash, as they speculate on the real culprit.
Recently in Weatherfield, imprisoned rogue Damon (Ciaran Griffiths) proposed to use some illicit funds to cover the medical expenses of Sarah Platt's (Tina O'Brien) daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon), following her failed cosmetic surgery in Turkey.
The money was stashed away by Damon in a storage unit after his participation in an armed heist. Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) discovered Damon's monetary proposal but initially kept it from Sarah. However, when he finally confessed, the money had mysteriously disappeared.
Several locals were under suspicion, including Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) - who is currently dating Gail Platt (Helen Worth). Sarah also interrogated Adam, but he maintained his innocence.
However, during Monday's episode (October 21), troublemaker Logan (Harry Lowbridge) broke into Sarah's house, believing she had the money hidden there. But as the episode concluded, viewers seemed to identify the offender, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Lily was spotted by her father David searching through the cupboard under the stairs. A frantic David attempted to shoo her away, and once she left, he was seen looking for something. David then uncovered a bag filled with money. He concealed it beneath a duvet and other items. However, despite this potentially implicating David as the thief, viewers are convinced that he wasn't actually the one.
On a Corrie Facebook fan page, fans expressed their opinions on the real offender. One individual commented: "I don't think it was David! " Another responded: "Don't think it was him, he looked shocked when he saw the money."
A third concurred: "I don't believe David did steal the money and someone else has hidden it there." Speculating on the potential culprit, several individuals pointed to David's partner Shona (Julia Goulding) in what could be a significant plot twist. One person queried: "Does anyone think it could be Shona." A second agreed: That's a good idea, as maybe he told her about the money?" A third wrote: "I'm thinking the same. Still don't think David did it there will be a twist."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
