Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez has revealed she was admitted to hospital.
Georgina, 30, paid tribute to the medical staff who treated her after she spent four days requiring hospital treatment before being deemed fit enough to be discharged and return home. Her illness came just weeks after she and the footballing legend were seen enjoying a luxury holiday in Saint-Tropez amidst rumours they had secretly married.
Taking to Instagram, the Argentinian-born beauty said: "Finally back home! I spent 4 days at the hospital with pneumonia, I'm better now but still recovering at home with my family. I have to say a big THANK YOU to all the staff members, doctors, nurses and everyone at the hospital... They took care of me so wonderfully and I'm very grateful for that. Thank you all for such a great stay."
She confirmed that she was in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as she shared a snap of herself at the Saudi German Hospital, with her IV drip on display on her arm. The hospital credits itself for caring for patients "like family". While Georgina was recovering in the luxury hospital which is ranked as the number one in Dubai, her rumoured husband Cristiano played two games with Saudi side, Al-Nassr.
The former Manchester United legend was in action just last week, scoring in the nail-biting 2-1 Saudi Pro League game over Al-Shabab. He later travelled to Dubai to go against Iranian team, Esteghlal in the AFC Champions League – playing the full 90 minutes before his team won the 1-0 match.
Georgina and Cristiano have been dating since 2016 and they have two children together. Georgina is also the stepmother of his other three children. It has been suggested that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and his partner were having a romantic day out as they both appeared to be wearing wedding rings during a yacht trip while on their lavish holiday.
They also fuelled speculation themselves when, in a game of Mr. and Mrs. on his new YouTube channel, Ronaldo referred to Georgina as his 'wife'. The Real Madrid icon has not previously gone public with any marriage ceremony or commented on the rumours. Ronaldo and Georgina famously met while she was working as a retail assistant in Madrid when the then Los Blancos icon walked into a Gucci store in 2016.
In a recent interview with Italy's Elle magazine Georgina said: "The first meeting with Ronaldo was at Gucci where I worked as a sales assistant. Days later we saw each other again at another brand's event. It was then we could talk in a relaxed atmosphere, outside of my work environment. It was love at first sight for both."
Georgina followed Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia when he opted to call time on his spell in Europe - penning a lucrative deal with Al-Nassr in what remains the Saudi Pro League's biggest capture. Ronaldo in the past has claimed he wants to take his tally of children to seven, matching the shirt number he has worn throughout his career.
Speaking during an interview in July 2017 - when he had just three kids and had been dating Georgina for around a year - he reportedly said in Portuguese press: "My eldest Cristianinho is very happy. He’s doing well and says he wants more brothers and sisters. He wants seven, the magic number, and I think that’s good."
