Holly Willoughby had an "eye-opening" experience that made her feel "more in touch with herself" after trying out alternative therapies. Holly was away from her loved ones in 2018, presenting I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in Australia, when she realised she had a rare moment to herself.
This led her to explore the area around where she was staying. The Dancing on Ice host found herself wandering the streets of Australia, surrounded by alternative therapies like reflexology and kinesiology, a muscle therapy used to identify "imbalances in the body".
Holly, 43, decided to "try everything" and while some of it "felt strange", there was one moment with a kinesiologist that really stood out to her. This experience prompted a change in her perspective when she returned to London.
In a previous 2021 chat with Elizabeth Day on her How to Fail podcast, Holly said: "There was one lady that I met and she was a kinesiologist, and it transpired quite quickly that whatever you believe, it felt to me that there was something more than traditional kinesiology going on.", reports Gloucestershire Live.

ITV)"It was like an emotional body test type thing and she was saying things and my body was reacting. I felt this kind of unzipping of my chest and this opening and it was a bit like Pandora's box because once it had it was like I couldn't put it all back in the organised chaos that I had packaged it all up for a long time."
Reflecting on her transformative experience, she shared: "It was eye-opening, and when I came back to London I thought 'well something happened there and probably, I've got the time and headspace in order to just go with this a little bit more'. And the more I did it, whether it was alternative therapies, or more traditional therapy, the better I felt and the more in control of things I felt, and the more in touch with myself I felt."
She added: "I think I discovered that I numbed a big section of my life in order to coast through it smoothly and I think I was just done doing that."
According to Healthline, muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology (AK) or manual muscle testing (MMT) is an alternative medicine practice that claims to effectively diagnose structural, muscular, chemical, and mental ailments.
The website adds that although AK has recently shown potential as a technique for diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders, the medical community has mostly rejected the idea of the treatment as a diagnostic tool for conditions in other parts of the body.
Later today, Holly will be returning to her presenting duties on ITV's Dancing on Ice at 6:30 pm alongside co-host Stephen Mulhern.
This year's star-studded lineup features Anton Ferdinand, Charlie Brooks, Chelsee Healey, Chris Taylor, Dan Edgar, Ferne McCann, Josh Jones, Michaela Strachan, Mollie Pearce, Sam Aston, and Steve Redgrave among others, as they hit the ice rink to test their skating skills.
