Dave Grohl is facing an uphill battle getting his marriage back on track as he braces for a costly divorce that could see his $300m fortune sliced by at least half – and that’s not counting his love child bill and hefty legal fees, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
The Foo Fighters frontman, 55, announced to shocked fans on September 10 that he had welcomed his fourth child outside of his marriage to wife Jordyn Blum.
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” Dave wrote in a statement. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
In the wake of his admission of infidelity, the rock star’s spurned wife, Jordyn, 48, has been weighing the decision to leave the singer or keep her family together amid the heartache.
The insider says that, while she’s stuck wavering between divorce and forgiveness, “There’s an intervention going on,” with Jordyn’s friends “telling her she can’t take him back and she needs to divorce him now, and it’s got Dave in all kinds of panic.”
The couple got married in August 2003 and welcomed three children together during their union – daughters Violet, 18, Harper, 10, and Ophelia, 15 – complicating matters for the mother of three.
“One minute Jordyn wants out of the marriage and the next she can’t live without him. It’s now looking that divorce is increasingly likely, given how friends are rallying round Jordyn and urging her to not put up with his behavior,” the source adds.
A second source speaking to DailyMail confirmed that Jordyn is amid the worst analysis paralysis she’s likely ever faced, saying, “One day Jordyn Blum is ditching her wedding ring and vowing divorce from cheating husband Dave Grohl. The next she’s at home wearing the ring and sobbing because she doesn’t want the marriage to end.”
That source described Jordyn’s current mood as “a state of confusion” which has her friends begging her to “move forward with the split” and “not to go back with him at any cost.”
The financial cost, however, will more than likely be borne by Dave in a big way. With a potential dissolution of their marriage on the horizon, Dave has decided to retain a divorce lawyer in anticipation of a brutal settlement.
“If there’s no forgiving him, it will ultimately mean he’ll be ponying half his fortune to her,” the first insider explains. “Word is, they didn’t have a prenup,” which means “He’ll be on the hook for an enormous chunk of change – hundreds of millions given that he’s worth $300 million – then he’ll have to pony up a small fortune with child support payments.”
“It’s the cost of cheating. Dave wants to save the marriage, but at the end of day he’s looking at a cheating bill that’s going to cost him millions if he doesn’t find some miracle.”
