Fans were stunned by Davina McCall's revelation she was to undergo surgery on a brain tumour last week.

The TV presenter shared the shocking news online on the day she was ready to go for surgery. Now, after being in intensive care to recover from the operation, the Masked Singer judge has revealed the chilling words her doctor told her prior to the procedure.

Speaking on the Making the Cut podcast she hosts with boyfriend Michael Douglas prior to her surgery, Davina said she spoke to a neurosurgeon who "showed me my brain". She described the moment as being "the weirdest thing ever". She went on: "He pointed it out to me that it [the tumour] is right in the middle of my brain."

Davina explained how colloid cysts are very rare, saying three people in a million get them. They are small fluid-filled sacs located in or around the lateral and third ventricle of the brain.

The presenter continued: "He [the doctor] said 'I'd like for you to talk to another neurosurgeon to talk about if you need surgery, just in case'. And then I went to see this other surgeon and this time I took a doctor with me because I'm like 'I don't really understand what you're trying to say'. They can't say we think you should have this operation, I guess in case something goes wrong. But he said 'it's big'."

She revealed doctors class a colloid cyst as being big at anything about 10mm. "Mine was 14mm," she revealed. "The point being, with mine being 14mm, is that it fills the space and has nowhere to grow and if it grows it can then cause Hydrocephalus and that's water on the brain."

Davina admitted she thought they were trying to tell her to take it out before describing how they planned to do the surgery. She then got a second opinion from a doctor who described the best route would be to do a craniotomy." She labelled it a "big deal" and said she will be taking two months off following the surgery - and plans to learn a song to sing at Christmas to her partner. "I'm ready," she said during the recording, which took place two days before her operation.

In an update after her surgery, it was revealed that the The My Mum Your Dad star stayed in ICU after her operation on the 'very rare' tumour. Davina's boyfriend, Michael shared an update with her fans on Monday as he reassured them that she is doing well. He wrote: "Update- Mega progress these last 24 hours.

"Massive relief to see some light breaking through. Thanks for all the good vibes coming in from all angles. Up and Up. Thanks so much to all the well wishers. She really has made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours. She is out of ICU. She is “loving awareness”. Thank you xx - Michael."
