Davina McCall's emotional statement in health update as she thanks her 'amazing rock'

Davina McCall has issued a health update after she was admitted to hospital for brain surgery earlier this month.

The 54-year-old underwent surgery after being rushed to hospital to remove a 14mm benign brain tumour.

In a video update shared on Friday November 15, Davina asked her fans to keep her in their prayers as her boyfriend Michael Douglas provided fans with updates.

Now, the former Big Brother presenter has heaped praise on her stepmum Gaby for being her unwavering pillar of strength following her brain surgery reports the Daily Star.

After undergoing an operation for a non-cancerous colloid cyst, the much-loved presenter took to Instagram with an emotional video expressing her gratitude towards Gaby, married to Davina's late father Andrew.

"I'm being brilliantly looked after by Michael and my mum," shared the TV icon from her bed. Davina also had words of appreciation for step-parents everywhere: "I'd quickly like to say big up the step-mums. I don't really say thank you to Gaby enough. She's been an amazing rock my whole life."

Davina, whose biological mum Florence passed away in 2008, reflected further: "I was talking yesterday to somebody, I said I've got a massive dose of vitamin G. I think when something like this happens I just feel so grateful. I've always been grateful, I've been really lucky in my life."

She added: "But I feel unbelievably grateful right now. So thanks for everything all of you. I'm on the mend, I'm resting, I'm sleeping loads and I feel really good. I just feel very lucky."

Davina has also shared that she's been experiencing some short-term memory issues. "My short-term memory is a bit remiss but that is something I can work on so I'm really happy about that," she revealed.

"I'm writing down everything I'm doing to keep myself feeling safe."

The mum-of-three expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support she received during her surgery, stating she wanted to extend an "enormous heartfelt thank you".

Overcome with emotion, she continued: "It has meant the world... it's been mad and it is just really nice to be back home. I am on the other side."
