Davina McCall will be 'off grid' on social media as she recovers from brain surgery
Davina McCall has revealed she is undergoing a brain operation after doctors discovered a benign tumour in her brain. The presenter described the colloid cyst tumour as 'very rare'. Sharing the news on Instagram she said the chances of having it were 'three in a million', and that she had discovered she had it after a company offered her a health scan in return for giving a talk on the menopause. Davina described the tumour as 14mm wide and said it 'needed to come out, because if it grows it would be bad'. She added, 'I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions. I realised that I have to get it taken out. Say a prayer for me.'
Her partner Michael Douglas, an award-winning hairdresser, also featured in the video update to assure fans that Davina is in 'very good hands' and that he will be looking after her while she recovers. Michael also wrote the caption for the Instagram post to let her follows know that Davina will be 'off grid' following her operation. 'She is in great shape and in very good hands,' he added. 'I'll do the odd update from her account here for anyone interested. I'm sure she'll read the comments when she's able to so feel free to send love. The support of people is amazingly powerful.' Several of Davina's colleagues and friends were quick to comment offering their support. Radio presenter and DJ Annie Macmanus wrote, 'You gorgeous woman. Sending every ounce of love', while Rylan Clark commented, 'We're all thinking of you beautiful.' The post received upwards of 4,500 comments within an hour from fans offering their well wishes.
