Dick Strawbridge revealed that he has "passionate arguments" with his wife and, far from being repentant, thinks the feisty exchanges contribute to making life "sparkle".
"Compromise leads to mediocrity," he vowed, as he spilled his love life secrets while touring the Dick and Angel: Forever Home show at the London Palladium. He continued that the pair believe in "getting the most out of everything we do" - and that even includes their spats.
"We have passionate arguments and don't give an inch," he declared unapologetically. "The two of us all will always argue and have the best arguments we possibly can."
He touched on the topic after a fan at the show scanned a QR code allowing them to send questions directly to Dick and Angel's iPad to be answered. As the couple have received over 250,000 emails since their hit show Escape To The Chateau began on Channel 4 in 2016, the direct link to the iPad was the best chance for fans to get those burning questions answered.
The viewer, from Sweden, had asked what the couple's top tips were for "making life sparkle". Besides the shock confession that arguments only enhance their love life, they also explained that making time for quality experiences with family is vital.
Dick and Angel invited their children, Arthur and Dorothy on stage with them, despite the former teasing that he'd been dragged there under duress, and fans could see the harmony within the family.
Meanwhile, they also exchanged banter with Angel's parents who were seated in the audience that night.
One multiple choice question, which guests answered using their phones, sparked a debate about whether or not they'd sold the chateau.
In response, cheekily making a direct shout-out to his grandparents, Dick and Angel's son told them: "We haven't made you homeless!"
Meanwhile, there was more teasing in store when the couple projected some of the most extreme headlines that have been created about them on a screen behind them.
Dick wasted no time in telling the crowd that suggestions in the media that his wife Angel might "always be right" were definitely "fake news".
They might seem like an unconventional couple - and there are certainly no shortage of arguments behind the scenes - but here's why we think their age-gap relationship works.
