Sean Combs and his legal team have been aggressive in their attempt to secure a bail agreement for the disgraced hip-hop mogul in the months before his May 2025 trial commences.
Diddy is facing serious charges, and he will be sentenced to many years in prison if he is found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking charges in what is certain to be a highly-publicized trial. But in the meantime, the 55-year-old wants out of Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center as he continues to deny the charges that prosecutors have brought against him.
Diddy's victims fear retribution
As Diddy's fourth attempt to secure bail and leave jail hung in the balance Monday, attorney Ariel Mitchell -- who represents several of Diddy's alleged victims of rape and sexual assault -- revealed that many of her clients are fearful of retribution should the request of Combs' legal team be granted. However, Mitchell indicated that she did not expect the court to accede to Combs.
"All of them are very apprehensive about their safety if he were to be granted bond," Mitchell said of the alleged victims. "I am confident in the court. I am sure that the court will remain with their previous decision of no bond."
Mitchell's contention about her clients places more pressure on the shoulders of U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who is due to decide this week whether Combs goes free six months before his trial date. Prosecutors have claimed Diddy is using his influence to contact the potential jury pool and to intimidate witnesses from behind bars; Diddy's attorneys have claimed the prosecution is trying to silence their client in light of his recent public statements and social media posts, including one that wished his daughter Love a happy second birthday.
