Sean "Diddy" Combs has become persona non grata in celebrity circles following a damning indictment on charges that include racketeering and sex trafficking. Combs is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he is poised to remain until his case goes to trial in May 2025.
But back in his heyday, Diddy was one of the top producers in hip-hop and one of the most well-known figures in popular music. Combs' dating life was covered in many a tabloid and gossip column -- and that was especially true of his romantic relationship with Jennifer Lopez, a rising star in film and music during the late 1990s and the early 2000s.
Diddy's entourage slammed Lopez's lack of "loyalty"
Combs and Lopez ended their relationship in 2001; JLo went on to date Ben Affleck, whom she married in 2022 and from whom she filed for divorce in August.
The circumstances of Lopez's decision to move on from Combs centered on Diddy standing trial over his role in a 2001 nightclub shooting, and her choice to leave him rocked the Bad Boy Records founder's inner circle. While Diddy himself wished Lopez the best, one of the mogul's friends called her a "disloyal b****" in an interview with The New Yorker.
That comment has resurfaced recently amid JLo's refusal to talk about her ex or the charges pending against him -- as well as claims that Lopez cheated on Diddy during their relationship. Only time will tell if "Jenny from the Block" fights back against the allegations amid the imminent release of her new film "Unstoppable", as the public relations pressure rises and Diddy's troubles deepen.
