The 'Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony' of this 2024 had a more than emotional meeting when Dua Lipa and Cher, two artists who belong to different times, but both are part of the history of music, came together on stage.

Dua Lipa is considered the Cher of the new generation, being one of the biggest names on the current scene with more than 65 million monthly plays on Spotify. Meanwhile, Cher, who released a compilation album with her best songs this year, accumulates more than 11 million listens.

However, this meeting came as a surprise to many, as it was assumed that the relationship between them was not good. Cher had not liked being compared to Dua Lipa in the past.

What really happened between Cher and Dua Lipa

It all happened in the summer on X (formerly Twitter), with a post comparing the two artists, suggesting that Dua Lipa was "our generation's Cher". The tweet, which included a photo of a young Cher alongside one of Dua Lipa, did not mention the singers directly, however, a user retweeted it adding the phrase "Too much truth in one tweet," this time mentioning both singers' profiles.

Cher responded to this: "How old is a generation?" with an emoticon of doubt, while Dua Lipa stood aside. Mind you, the Californian didn't stop there and added: "I don't know how to assume I'm getting old."

Now, to eliminate any doubt of a bad relationship between them, Cher and Dua Lipa decided to come together at this ceremony to sing the song 'Believe'. The song corresponds to Cher's 1998 album of the same name, which sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, being the most played song on Cher's Spotify with almost 700 million listens.
