Elaine Crowley has revealed that her week five dance would have been dedicated to her family after the death of her nephew, Ultan.
Elaine and her pro partner Denys Samson were the second couple to be eliminated from Dancing With The Stars on Sunday night.
The Ireland AM presenter and her partner went back in time to the 60s and performed an energetic Jive to You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray for the RTE show's Movie Week theme, bouncing back from last week's mistake to score 18.
The annual special saw the ten remaining celebrity couples dance glittering routines inspired by some of the biggest movies of all time, with iconic heroes, villains and much-loved characters taking centre stage.
It was a shock to viewers that Elaine was the second celebrity to leave the show, and she revealed she had planned to dedicate her performance to her nephews next week if she had stayed.
She told RSVP Live: "It was for my nephews because they had a rough few years and I wanted to dance, bring them up to watch the show and dance in front of them so they could mock me basically and have a bit of a giggle.
"But it wasn’t to be but I’m sure they laughed at me tonight anyway, just from home."
Elaine admitted that on Sunday she had a "strange" feeling all day in the lead up to the show. When asked how she was feeling in the aftermath of her elimination, she said: “I don’t know.. I had a weird feeling all day today. I had a very strange feeling. I couldn’t put my finger on it.”
She admitted that her time on Dancing With The Stars has been one of the biggest challenges she has ever taken on.
“It’s been probably one of the most difficult things I’ve done in my life," said Elaine. "I’m not going to lie, it was very, very challenging and very, very hard. I am banjaxed from it; my calves are rock hard, and they are really, really sore. I could barely walk this morning.
"Of course I am really sad to be out of it. I have a great bunch of friends, and they are worst than I am about me leaving, Jack [Woolley] is bawling crying.
“You have to put life into perspective, yes, I would love to stay dancing but it is a TV show more than a dance competition. There are a lot of horrible things happening in the world and you think you need to be realistic about how important some of these things are.
“Yes, I got kicked out second on Dancing with the Stars, which was a bit mortifying to be honest but on the other hand nothing serious happened.”
Dancing With The Stars airs Sunday nights at 6.30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player
