Viewers are lapping it up, awarding the show a staggering 94% approval rating Rotten Tomatoes score after it premiered on the streaming platform on Friday (October 18). The series also stars Katherine Parkinson, Danny Dyer and former Doctor Who lead man, David Tennant.
Emily plays Sarah Stratton, the wife of the Prime Minister's deputy, played by Rufus Jones. The show sees her use her status to land a role as a TV presenter, reports the Mirror.
While many of us would think twice before getting our kit off in front of the camera, Emily previously confessed to Digital Spy that it wasn't the nudity that concerned her, but rather ensuring she looked convincing playing tennis.
She explained: "It wasn't, 'I'm gonna have to run around a tennis court completely starkers'. But, I like a big entrance. I was like, 'Yeah, bring it on'. We keep saying that the nudity and the sex scenes are a huge part of this, but there's always a reason for them. We're not just getting our kit off for no reason. They're very integral to the storylines and characters."
While Emily's bold moves have become a viral talking point amongst fans, many have been cracking up over the script, calling it "hilarious". Star Kathy Burke even tweeted her joy at the show, saying: "Had the privilege of a sneak peek of the first episode and it's fantastic! All eps drop today like most of the characters under-crackers. Can't wait!"
Emily also revealed she made an immediate connection with co-star Alex Hassell, confessing that she felt "completely comfortable" around him from the get-go. She praised the whole Rivals team and intimacy coordinators as well, saying shooting was "liberating" and "safe".
Reflecting on the steamy scenes, she said: "We all knew each other really well by then. I think anybody that had nudity scenes and sex scenes, we all just really supported each other, so we loved talking about it. It was liberating and it was very safe."
