The cat is well and truly out of the bag on Emmerdale's impending death, all thanks to Sharon Marshall's little slip-up on This Morning.

While talking to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about the latest in soapland, Sharon accidentally let slip a huge spoiler about who's heading to the grave in Emmerdale, leaving the presenters gobsmacked.

The rumour mill's been churning about Anthony Fox dying on the show, and now, thanks to soap writer Sharon, it's official.

As they spoke about this week's ITV soap antics, Sharon blabbed out loud about Anthony's looming last breath: "Ok so he escaped last night's episode."

Cat, eyes wide, pounced at the chance: "Does he die?" Sharon, never shy, laid it bare: "Yeah." That bit of gossip sparked an "oh!" from Ben, reports the Express..

Then to add more details, Sharon slipped in: "On Thursday," leading Ben to reckon she was joking, as he said: "I thought you might have teased that bit," as the duo looked staggered by the blunt reveal. Standing by her decision to dish out the gritty details of Anthony's fate come Thursday, the soap oracle left the hosts wondering as she said: "Well the tease is, what happens? Who kills him?" Probing deeper, Sharon teased more mystery for the rest of the week: "And more suspects will enter the frame tonight, in fact, I think the papers..."

The TV guru was left gobsmacked when a snap of Anthony sprawled on the floor appeared, alongside two potential suspects. She blurted out: "Well that's what happened on Monday, he got whacked with a candlestick, he's had a week of it."

Then, spinning to the production team she called for a "split screen" to show the potential offenders.

Anthony, played by Nicholas Day, has been exposed as one of Emmerdale's nastiest baddies, with details of his chilling past gradually seeing the light of day. Turns out he’s the biological dad of Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly), and had groomed and assaulted her when she'd been younger.

With Anthony stomping into the scene, he kicked off some huge chaos, revealing that Caleb Milligan isn't Steph's real dad. Now the plot thickens with seven potential suspects pegged for his death, including Nicola King and Laurel Thomas, siblings Cain and Chas Dingle, Aaron Dingle, Caleb Milligan, and none other than Ruby Milligan.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
