The death of Erin Plummer's husband has taken a tragic turn after a body was found next to a cliff on Sunday.

Alan Plummer, who shared three daughters with the Australian TV presenter, died this week, aged 49, two years after Erin sadly took her own life.

Australian media and police initially reported that Alan was found dead at the family’s home in northern Sydney on Saturday. But now it's been reported that a body was found at the foot of a cliff at Freshwater beach on Sunday.

A NSW Police spokesperson told the Mirror: "Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 49-year-old man at Freshwater on Sunday."

When Alan, who was the former director of Shine VIP Tours Australia, failed to turn up to meet his friend for a swim on Sunday, his pal called the police to request a welfare check. Officers then showed up at his home and informed his 18-year-old daughter that her dad was missing. The Mail reports that a body was tragically found by a lifeguard an hour later. The Mirror has contacted the NSW Police for further comment.

Alan's death comes two years after he lost his wife to suicide. Speaking of Erin's passing, her friend Sarah said on social media at the time: "Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a little bit of sparkle with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.

“For two decades, Erin Jayne has been a friendly and familiar face on Australian television, for a lot of that she’s been brightening up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile. Erin was just a gorgeous human inside and out and if it wasn’t for TV, Erin Jayne perhaps might have had a sporting career.

“She represented Australia in synchronised swimming and even surf life-saving. There is no question Erin Jayne was a high achiever and certainly a gold medal mum to her three young girls. We’ll miss your sunshine around the studio Erin Jayne, and all of us here are sending lots of love and strength to her family."

Following Erin's death, a GoFundMe was set up to help support her family. The page read at the time: "Fundraising to support a regular gardener and housekeeper to keep the Plummer household running along with anything else they may need."

Quickly, more than $20,000 (£10,900) was raised by heartbroken friends, family, and supporters. One donor sent $10,000 to the fundraiser, writing: "Our deepest condolences are with you and your family at this very sad time."
