Fair City's Johnny Ward wants his Carrigstown colleague to take part in Dancing With The Stars

Johnny Ward has named a Fair City colleague he would love to see on Dancing With The Stars.

The actor, who was the runner up alongside partner Emily Barker in 2019 behind Mairead Ronan and her pro John Nolan, has said his friend and colleague George McMahon would be the ideal candidate for the show.

The programme will return to our screens on RTE in January, with rehearsals usually taking place in November and December.

Johnny said George, who plays Mondo O'Connell on the soap, would be ideal for the celebrity dancing competition.

Speaking to RSVP Live, he said: "George McMahon would be perfect, he'd be brilliant. He plays Mondo and the two of us went to the same performing arts school.

"He's an amazing actor, an amazing singer and he can definitely boogie, he's a brilliant dancer. I've always wanted to see George on it because he's a multi-talented guy. He's done musicals, he's done pantos, he's done pretty much every act on the roundabout. I've always wanted to see George on it, definitely."

Johnny recently marked 10 years since his breakout role in Love/Hate, and he admitted it actually feels much longer since he was on the show.

"It just feels like another life," he said. "It was amazing. At the very beginning, I had imposter syndrome. Love/Hate had been on for four seasons, and every Monday morning everyone was talking about it. It was every actor's dream to be in it.

"They auditioned me about five times, and getting that call was amazing."
