Monty Don has shared an update with his fans after been rushed to hospital with a mystery illness.
The Gardeners' World star, 69, was forced to cancel a series of shows after being taken to A&E when his health took a turn. He revealed he was in hospital over the weekend and was "on drips and the rest of it." Monty didn't tell his fans what caused the hospital dash but has since confirmed he had been discharged and is recuperating at home.
In an update, Monty confirmed he was "feeling better". He posted a photo of frost covering his Herefordshire garden and simply wrote: "Morning #gettingbetter." Monty was flooded with well wishes from fans as they urged him to carry on resting. In a video posted on Wednesday, he apologised to fans for having to cancel his upcoming talks in Exeter, Truro, Bath and Nottingham.
Monty told his 1.3 million followers: "Hello. I am so sorry to have disappointed all those people who were going to come and see me in Exeter and Truro and Bath and Nottingham. On Friday afternoon, I was rushed to A&E. I was kept in at the hospital over Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and had to have drips and all the rest of it.

INSTAGRAM)"But I came home last night, and I’m feeling much better. I’m going to spend the next few days quietly recuperating here at home and hopefully by the weekend I’ll be back to full fitness." The TV star had been travelling around the UK as part of his 'An Audience with Monty Don' tour.
He has previously spoken out about a little-known disorder he suffers from that rears its head in the colder months. Speaking on Kate Thornton's White Wine Question Time podcast, he shared: "I was long ago diagnosed with SAD – there's no question about it, that November and December are always the worst time for me – I can't bear them. It's a lot to do with the greyness, the lack of light and the general sense of the world just pressing in on you and no energy."
Seasonal affective disorder - or SAD - is a type of depression that generally comes and goes in a seasonal pattern, according to the NHS. It's often dubbed 'winter depression' as sufferers, like Monty, usually have more obvious symptoms during the colder seasons. Monty is thought to use a light box to lessen the impact of seasonal changes.
It helps to mimic outdoor light that triggers a chemical change in the brain that elevates your mood. He also credits gardening as a good way to boost his mood, as well as spending time with his loved ones and dogs. Monty had previously had a minor stroke in 2008, which saw him forced to stop presenting Gardeners' World. He has been at the helm of the BBC Two show since 2003.
