Fat Joe on Remy Ma and Papoose Drama: 'They Won't Listen to Me'

Fat Joe is extremely close to both Remy Ma and Papoose, who have been publicly fighting online after accusing each other of cheating.

In a conversation with My Expert Opinion, Joe discussed how difficult their feud has become for him.

“It’s a hard situation because of [Papoose]—she made me love him,” Fat Joe explained. “I really love him. That’s my goddaughter’s father. … I’m old-school morals and shit. With me, it’s like, ‘Damn, I’m the godfather. If these people pass away, I raise the baby.’”

He continued, saying point blank, “What I can’t do is stop it. They won’t listen to me.”

When one of the co-hosts pointed out that Fat Joe has a history of mediating rap beef, Joe said, “It’s a different type of thing when you got a husband. … I can’t get in the middle of that—that’s y’all.”

Fat Joe is godfather to Remy and Papoose’s 6-year-old daughter, Reminisce Mackenzie whom Joe called, “the best kid in the world.” He added, “She’s just a beautiful kid, very smart.”

Last week, the married rappers made headlines when Remy first accused Papoose of having an affair with boxer Claressa Shields. Remy aired out her partner, writing on Instagram, "Papoose dum ass fell asleep on the phone with Claressa Shields,” alongside screenshots of his supposed text messages with athelete.

Remy continued to post and hurl accusations before Papoose responded. "Sad to say that Remy Ma is a narcissist," he wrote on IG. "She chose to cheat repeatedly. Now that I finally moved on, she's playing the victim. I have requested a divorce numerous times. She rather clout chase on social media than handle this like civilized adults. I did not wanna do the social media foolishness. For the sake of my six-year-old baby. She has to go to school. As you can see I remained quiet through this all."

The husband and wife went back and forth on their IG stories before Shields got involved, tweeting, in part, "I can't believe a 45 year old woman is crashing out like this. [Clown emoji] behavior.”

Remy and Papoose were set to marry in 2008; the wedding was called off because of her incarceration. They finally said their I do's in February 2016 and welcomed their first and only child in December 2018.
