Nicole dated 311 frontman Nick Hexum early in her career after meeting him at a Hollywood party. The pair met in 2000, then got engaged in 2002 before ending their relationship two years later.
Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am later revealed in 2013 that he initially wanted Nicole to join the group but “her boyfriend said no,” seemingly alluding to Nick, according to Nicki Swift. “She was supposed to be in the Peas,” the “My Humps” singer said during a Google Hangout.
“Nick took care of me and I learned a lot from him and I looked up to him,” Nicole said about the relationship in a 2012 clip of VH1’s Behind the Music. “I was a lot younger than him, and it was just so, like, whatever Nick says, goes.”
