Harold Perrineau, the 61-year-old American actor known for his roles in Fame, Claws and The Rookie, is set to star as Sheriff Boyd Stevens in the third season of From, premiering in the UK on Sky on January 14. Born in Brooklyn, he was originally named Harold Williams by his parents but reverted to his original surname after discovering another Harold Williams in the Screen Actors Guild.
Perrineau, who has been married to former actress and model Brittany Robinson since 2002 and shares three daughters with her, including actress Aurora Perrineau, recently opened up about a particularly challenging scene in the upcoming season that forced him to confront a life-long phobia.
Speaking to Comic Book Resources, he revealed: "There's a thing that's coming up in one of the episodes, and it literally is a phobia I've had all my life. When we shot the scene, I couldn't look at it before, I shot the scene and then couldn't look at it anymore."
He added: "It still stayed in my brain for months. Every time it was time to go to sleep, it would pop up."
He confessed that he despised the experience, stating: "And I hated it, I really did, because it's my phobia, right? But there was no escaping it until it just went away... But without giving anything away, it gets worse."
The actor also hinted at an emotionally charged new season, suggesting that one of the episodes was so intense that he would never watch it again, and teasing that the new season is going to be "heartbreaking".
Speaking to Buzzfeed, he divulged: "One of the really good reasons that we're going to do it for 10 weeks is - from the beginning - it's going to be heartbreaking, and you're going to need a week to recover from a couple of episodes."
"It's dark, man. This year is dark. There's one episode I'm never watching again in my life. I'm never watching."
He teased further, "I'm not going to tell you which one, though...I told you, I'm going to play coy [laughs]."
From season three premieres in the UK on Tuesday, January 14, at 9pm on Sky Max and NOW
