Gary Barlow sent the internet into a frenzy as fans are gobsmacked by his son towering over him.
The Take That legend typically keeps his family out of the limelight, but he couldn't resist sharing an adorable family photo that has sent fans into a shockwave.
In the endearing picture, Gary poses alongside his wife Dawn Andrews, son Daniel, and one of his daughters. It was big lad Daniel, though, who nicked the spotlight, leaving fans utterly astounded at how he overshadowed his famous dad and the rest of their brood with his impressive stature, casually resting an arm on Gary's shoulder.
Fans were so surprised, they took to social media to sing Daniel's praises—or have a little banter about his height. One user chirped on Twitter: "Gary Barlow's massive son is the reason twitter was made for."
Someone else penned: "Many parents at some point see one or more of their offspring grow up to be taller than them – but few can have experienced this so viscerally as.
Cheeky quips continued with another fan pulling an Alan Partridge reference out of the bag: "Gary Barlow's son is scared, he doesn't know why he's so big". Someone even fancied comparing him to a Norse legend, chortling: "A vast Viking axeman – and to a songsmith born! Extraordinary. He may smite his musical father in one mighty blow and ride – laughing – to Valhalla to feast. But it may displease the gods. such is the way of war."
However, fans might be taken aback to discover that Daniel isn't exactly a towering giant compared to the average UK male. Yes, he's tall, but not extraordinarily so.
He stands at 6"2, in contrast to his dad Gary's 5"7, as per Express reports. The average height for a UK male is 5"9, making Gary slightly below average.
Gary and Dawn have three children together: son Daniel and daughters Emily, 22, and Daisy, 15. They also had a daughter named Poppy who tragically was stillborn in 2012.
Gary recently revealed that he doesn't anticipate his children following in his musical footsteps. Speaking to the Mirror, he said: "The two oldest ones [Daniel and Emily] have kind of gone into medicine and physiology – studying strength and conditioning – and my youngest one, Daisy, I'm not too sure what she's heading for but again, she's very studious... unlike me and my wife."
He continued: "I don't think they will follow in my music footsteps but I wouldn't have discouraged them though if they did want to, it's been a good business for me."
In a 2019 interview with the Belfast Telegraph, he confessed: "I always feel they're growing up too fast - it's weird. It's all going to sound like someone's said it a million times as parents, but it feels like a race."
