A first-look clip for Gavin and Stacey's much anticipated return has given fans a glimpse at a change in one character's life since we last saw them five years ago.
The BBC sitcom will return for its "finale" on Christmas Day, with the news having prompted excitement when it was announced in May. There hasn't been any new episodes of the BAFTA-winning show since its last festive special in 2019.
Ahead of the new Christmas special's broadcast, a teaser clip was released recently. It shows co-creator Ruth Jones, 58, in character as Vanessa 'Nessa' Jenkins. Nessa is seen driving a rickshaw in the brief scene, which is understood to have been filmed on Barry Island back in September.
It confirms that Nessa has now found work as a rickshaw driver, adding that role to her lengthy list of jobs that have been referenced over the course of the three series. It's unclear if she still works in the amusement arcade too, with her seen at the attraction in the last Christmas special.
The teaser begins with Nessa bringing the ride to a stop as she tells the passengers: "Right, that's your lot. You'll have to have to walk the rest." After giving some directions, she asserts that she's "done" and won't take them any further.

I'm just speaking my truth, I find your abusive tone very triggering. You're damaging my mental health. Now if I was you, I'd leave it there. You got Apple Pay? I've got Bluetooth in my bra."
Her apparent new job as a rickshaw driver is the latest in her varied career, which has been the subject of jokes on Gavin and Stacey. It's been teased on the show that she's also worked as a football coach, in retail and as a nightclub bouncer, among references to jobs in a host of other fields.
There's been references to the music industry, with it once teased that the character was in "the original line-up" of the group All Saints, for example. Nessa has also spoken about having driving experience, like once saying that she "used to drive the sets" for the group the Who "on their world tours".
Fans have less than two weeks to wait for the show's return, when they will get to find out what's happened in the characters' lives since the 2019 special. The BBC has teased: "It's five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened since then."
The final episode of Gavin and Stacey will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm on December 25.
