Grammys: Reporter Apologizes for Disrespectful Babyface Interview

Babyface went viral on social media during the 2025 Grammy Awards for an incredibly awkward and disrespectful red carpet interview with entertainment journalists from the Associated Press.

The iconic singer and producer was being interviewed before the main Grammy ceremony by AP’s Leslie Ambriz and Krysta Fauria. In the clips that have gone viral on social media sites, Babyface is being asked a question by Ambriz and is in the middle of an answer when Fauria interrupts him and starts beckoning Chappell Roan, who is walking behind the 13-time Grammy winner. Babyface then realizes they would rather talk to Chappell Roan and ends the interview and walks away.

The brief interview created a furious reaction online, with the likes of Dionne Warwick and Khloé Kardashian upbraiding the journalists for treating Babyface so disrespectfully.

“This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview. Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. Its maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve,” Kardashian tweeted. “He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this. With decades of groundbreaking work as a songwriter, producer, and performer, he’s shaped the sound of multiple generations. I love you @babyface”

Kardashian added, “PS big or small, old or new, – you don’t treat people like this. At least not in my eyes. There’s a way to handle this and this was wrong in my opinion.”

Fauria later apologized, saying “I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up, and there was a lot of commotion, as there is on these carpets. But I’m a big Babyface fan, as are we all. And so I just wanted to say that, that I really apologize.”
