Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith says 'I'm so near the end' in personal admission

Prue Leith, the esteemed judge of The Great British Bake Off, has candidly shared that she feels she's 'near the end' and is therefore more inclined to take risks now.

In a chat with Bella magazine, she revealed: "Because I'm so near the end, I'm a bit more reckless now. What's the worst that can happen?"

At 84, Prue is embracing a 'why not?' attitude towards life, stating: "If I was about to try to get a job on Bake Off I probably wouldn't walk down a catwalk in Latex with goth make-up on, but now it's too late. If I want to do it and it sounds like good fun I just think, 'why not?'"

This September, Prue swapped her usual floral outfits for a daring 'goth' look as she strutted down the runway for fashion designers Vin + Omi at London Fashion Week.

Prue Leith turned heads on the runway

Recounting her first foray into the fashion world in the Telegraph, she wrote: "Two days ago, I got dressed, well, barely dressed, in a skintight black latex number held together with corset-style red cord. I was here to march down a catwalk in front of 500 members of the press and public."

Veteran television star Prue Leith confessed that despite a shaky start on her 20-metre long walk, she basked in the limelight and adored every second.

She shared: "But in spite of all that, I just loved it. The crowd could not have been kinder, whooping and hollering at the gallant old lady (84 and counting) giving it a go. I'm just such an egotist, lapping up the attention."

The Great British Bake Off, which has been a hit for 14 years, sewed Prue into its tapestry back in 2017, entrusting a judge's role to her when she took the baton from Mary Berry.

Yet, Prue hinted earlier this year at her desire to retire from the beloved baking show in a statement, sharing: "So I won't leave in a hurry, but I will leave some time because I'm getting ancient."
