2 hours ago 3

Wes Nelson has confessed one of his first live performances was "terrifying" after something went very wrong.

The Love Island hunk, who appeared on the show in 2018, has since made a transition into music, with his 2020 debut See Nobody peaking at No3 in the UK charts. More recently, his song Abracadabra featuring Craig David hit No37.

But his music career hasn't always gone smoothly. He revealed to Daily Star that one of his first performances was a bit of a nightmare.

"One of my first live performances was actually at the Paralympic homecoming at Wembley Arena in 2021," he told us. "I was performing my song with Clean Bandit, Drive, in front of a packed crowd of fans and Paralympians and it was being broadcast on Channel 4.

Wes Nelson admitted his Paralympics Homecoming performance was a bit of a nightmare

"Once I started performing the track I realised my in-ear monitors weren't on, so I couldn't hear the music at all to sing to. Luckily the crowd were clapping along so I managed to stay on beat, but it was terrifying."

And despite being a rising star in music, Wes, 26, keeps his rider down to earth, admitting: "It's nothing too wild." He explained: "Plenty of water to stay hydrated, tea to keep my voice in check, some cans of BadWater and a snack stash, including fruit and nuts, that could probably feed a small army."

Recently, Wes has been on a fitness journey and has been impressing fans with his ripped physique. Speaking of the motivation behind it, he said: "I got to the stage where I wanted to feel healthier, more energised and comfortable in my own skin.

"I wanted to push myself further and see what I could achieve with discipline and hard work. I ended up losing a fair amount, roughly around 12kg.

"I stayed consistent with my workouts and cleaned up my diet, but I'm all about balance too – late-night cravings are real, and Birds Eye's Chicken Shop range has been a lifesaver for those posy-gym refuels. The feedback from fans has been amazing, which motivates me to keep going."

Wes Nelson warmed up ahead of his UK and Ireland tour with a performance at the Birds Eye Chicken Shop pop up event earlier this month. Performing some of his hit songs, he celebrated the brand's new Chicken Shop range that brings the much-loved Chicken Shop vibes to the comfort of your own home.
