Delving deeper into the mystery that led to Gugu Mbatha-Raw‘s Tess Caldwell attempting suicide at the beginning of “Surface” Season 1, the psychological thriller returns Friday, February 21 for eight new episodes.

Shifting setting from San Francisco to London, where her story supposedly began, Season 2 finds Caldwell searching for answers in her past. Will she find them? Watch the trailer at the bottom of this piece to get a hint.

Still suffering from amnesia after jumping off a ship, Caldwell spent the first season remembering her real identity, as she had been referring to herself as Sophie Ellis up to that point. Now that she knows that she’s Tess Caldwell, she’s ready to find out more and must do so by immersing herself in elite British society. It’s there where she reconnects with an heiress who may know more about her than she lets on. However, Caldwell’s investigation is sidetracked when a journalist seeks her assistance in exposing the scandals of those she’s gotten close to. As much as she still has to discover, staying alive in order to do so proves half the battle.
