Hilary Duff offered refuge for her friend and fellow celebrity Mandy Moore and her family following destruction because of the Eaton fire in Altadena, California.
TooFab reported that Moore shared that the “main part” of her and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, Altadena home “is still standing” in the caption of a January 10 Instagram post. She said that “it’s not livable but mostly intact.” She also noted that Goldsmith’s brother, Griffin Goldsmith, and his wife, Kit Goldsmith, lost their home because of the fire.
Page Six reported that Griffin Goldsmith shared that Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma, have opened their doors for Moore and her family, who have had to vacate their partly destroyed home.
“They are currently housing my brother’s family. They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began,” wrote Griffin Goldsmith.
Griffin Goldsmith Mentioned the GoFundMe Set up by Hilary Duff & Matthew Koma
According to Page Six, Griffin Goldsmith mentioned that Duff and Koma set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for him and his wife, who are expecting their first child, after they lost their house in his Instagram Story.
“Our dear friends @matthewkoma and @hilaryduff thought it wise to set up a gofundme for us to help with everything moving forward,” wrote Goldsmith in his social media post.
In addition, he expressed gratitude for Duff and Koma.
“I will never be able to thank them adequately. This is the kindest act any human could do for another. They are the most beautiful, selfless people we’ve ever known,” continued Goldsmith.
Page Six reported that Moore received backlash for sharing the GoFundMe fundraiser on her Instagram Stories. Moore shared she was frustrated by the criticism in a separate Instagram Story.
“We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. no one is forcing you to do anything,” wrote Moore, as reported by Page Six.
Moore’s former friend, Spencer Pratt, who lost his home in the Pacific Palisades fire, defended her in a January 12 TikTok upload. He described Moore as a kind and lovely person. Pratt also warned his social media followers to stop criticizing Moore.
“A lot of people I follow, you are popping up on my page. I want to block you, and stitch you, and come for you. But maybe delete your content about Mandy Moore because Mandy Moore is a real one,” said Pratt during his TikTok video.
Mandy Moore’s ‘This Is Us’ Co-Star Milo Ventimiglia Was Also Affected by the Fires
Moore’s “The Is Us” co-star Milo Ventimiglia was also affected by the Los Angeles fires. While speaking to CBS Mornings on January 10, Ventimiglia shared that his and his pregnant wife, Jarah Mariano’s home was completely destroyed by the Pacific Palisades fires. During the interview, Ventimiglia emotionally said the situation was “heavy.”
“You start thinking about — man it’s so quick — you start thinking about all the memories and different parts of the house. And whatnot,” said Ventimiglia.
