Hollyoaks' Ali Bastian rushed to hospital after being diagnosed with cancer

3 hours ago 1

Former Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian has been hospitalised over the weekend after her recent cancer shock. The 42-year-old actress, known for her role as Becca Dean on the hit Channel 4 show, was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer just last month.

In a heartfelt admission, Ali shared that the diagnosis left her reeling, having discovered a lump in her breast while nursing her little girl, Isabella. Amidst her battle and ongoing weekly chemotherapy sessions, Ali found herself in need of urgent medical attention and was admitted to hospital.

Now back at home in Ireland, she expressed her gratitude on social media, posting a selfie all wrapped up in a cosy puffer jacket, beanie, and shades. Her message of thanks to the staff at Cork University Hospital A&E read: "Thank you so much to all at Cork University Hospital A&E for taking care of me this weekend. Back home now getting some fresh air and some rest."

Just last week, Ali opened up about her fears of being labelled a "cancer patient" as she faced hair loss from her treatment.

Despite initially thinking it might be a blocked duct during breastfeeding, further investigation at a specialist clinic confirmed her worst fears. Ali is set to undergo a mastectomy and radiotherapy early next year as part of her treatment plan, reports the Mirror.

The mother of two confessed that she was reluctant to be labelled a "patient" as she feared it would strip her of her identity. She was content to "trot around with a bald head" at home, but worried that it would become her defining feature.

In an interview with The Sun's Fabulous magazine, Ali revealed that the first time she removed her wig, she felt apprehensive for a "split second" about unveiling her shaved head. She added: "Then it felt all right, and then it just felt normal. I'm hot and my bald head needs some air! " Last month, she documented the moment she cut her hair off on Instagram, stating it was a "small price to pay for the chance to be well again".

In another social media update, Ali posted a picture of herself donning a hair wrap. She courageously stated: "Some days you don't feel like the fighter people tell you you are, and that's ok too. This is not an easy path. There is cortisol in tears and they are better out than in."
