The trailer for the hotly-anticipated new Bible series House of David has landed and audiences are already excited.

Amazon Prime Video dropped the short two-minute-and-a-half teaser yesterday (January 29) with the tantalising caption: “You know the legend. Now experience the journey.”

Audiences got a sneak peek of the epic battle between David (played by Michael Iskander) and giant Goliath (Martyn Ford) with the titular hero picking up stones from a stream in his fight.

“It is not about the greatness of the giant, it is about the greatness of God,” David proclaims at one point.

However, at a quieter moment, he admits he is “terrified” about taking on Goliath and the Philistines.

The trailer begins and ends with the question: “Can one stone change the course of history?”

Many rushed to the comments section to share their opinions and praised the forthcoming series dropping on February 27.

“Shepherds like David were practically snipers with their slings. David knew what he was doing when he stepped up,” wrote one person.

Another said: “I won't lie this genuinely looks like it does justice to the Scripture which is insanely epic! I just hope they stay true to who David was, and that he was a man of deep faith and in pursuit of God's own heart. If you miss that you simply won't nail him.”

“I've been imagining this for a few years now: David's story in series form. His story is indeed an epic saga worthy of the best narratives where we see everything: love, courage, friendship, faith, devotion to God, betrayals, twists, battles, persecutions and lots of adventure,” opined a third.

A fourth person wrote: “'The Chosen', the animated 'Light of the World' & 'Young David', now 'The House of David' - biblical media is having an incredible renaissance! Christian storytellers are finally telling stories again, creating compelling, character-driven narratives, respecting the craft of film-making!”

One viewer said: “Finally a title from the Bible! The legend will be televised!”

House of David follows the rise of Biblical figure David, who becomes the most celebrated king of Israel.

The story begins with King Saul (Ali Suliman), who falls victim to his own pride with God commanding Samuel (Stephen Lang) to name a new leader.

Samuel chooses an unlikely figure: an outcast teenage boy. David embarks on a journey to fulfil his destiny and the will of god.

The eight-part series features sweeping landscapes and cinematic battle scenes worthy of the big screen.

Along with Iskander, Ford, Suliman and Lang, the series features Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Indy Lewis as Mychal.

House of David also stars Yali Topol Margalith as Mirab, Ethan Kai as Jonathan, Oded Fehr as Abner, Louis Ferreira as Jesse, Davood Ghadami as Eliab.

Further cast members include Sam Otto, Ashraf Barhom, Alexander Uloom and Aury Alby.

House of David follows in the footsteps of fellow Bible hit The Chosen and comes from the newly set-up, faith-based production company The Wonder Project.

Incidentally, The Chosen’s creator Dallas Jenkins is also a shareholder in the company and serves as a consultant to the firm.

Given the resurgence in popularity in Bible storytelling, House of David could well replicate the snowballing global success of The Chosen.
