While speaking to E! News in a new interview, the 25-year-old shared details about her weight loss journey — one that she says she’s been on since she was 18:
“I’ve been trying to lose weight since I was probably 18 years old. And it was just very frustrating to constantly be trying, constantly be putting in the work. I’ve been on a Mediterranean diet. I’ve been on a Paleo diet. I’ve been on diets all my life, and I needed something that would show me results.”
She even admits she tried the controversial Type 2 Diabetes drug Ozempic at one point — but quickly realized it wasn’t for her:
“I hated it, like, I could not eat without feeling nauseous.”
But she did find a drug that helped her a lot. A weight management injectable called Tirezepatide which her healthcare provider recommended to her:
“But I feel like once I talked to my provider and I felt like my concerns were actually being addressed and I was getting scientific information back, that made me more at ease.”
And the results were FAST! Bonnie said within two weeks of starting the medication last December, she’d already dropped 10 pounds! It made such a difference, in fact, that her loved ones who’d previously said to her “hey, you know, you’re getting a little bit big” started to take notice:
“At first I didn’t really notice the changes, I’m stepping on a scale and I’m seeing the numbers go down, but I’m looking at myself and I’m like, ‘Where do I see it?’ And then I would be told, like, ‘You used to have a little bit more of something at the top of your stomach, and it’s flattened out’.”
Bonnie has dropped 70 pounds in total — going from 196 pounds to her goal weight of 126! She said:
“I’m not going to lie, I cried a couple times because I was like, wow, this is what I wanted my entire life.”
Being born in and growing up in Hawaii contributed to her struggles with her weight, as well as being diagnosed with PCOS, she revealed:
“I’ve dealt with weight problems since I was pre-pubescent. I’ve always been the bigger friend. I’ve always been the bigger girl.”
Bonnie admitted to already being a bit of an emotional eater, so when her mom Bonnie tragically passed, she gained quite a bit of weight. She also lost most of her belongings in a 2023 house fire, which contributed as well:
“I coped a lot with food.”
But with help from Tirezepatide, she was able to curb her cravings and make healthier habits. And she’s got a better mindset, too:
“When I look at the scale, I’m not dreading it. I’m not looking at those numbers and overanalyzing them. I’m not looking at my BMI score. I’m looking at just a number that signifies how much my flesh and my bones weigh.”
Wonderful!
All in all, she said she finally feels like herself again:
“The last time I really felt good was when I was probably in high school. And I was like, if I can get to this weight, then I’ll be happy. And I was ecstatic when I reached that goal. I just felt like I was finally me again.”
We love to hear it! Reactions, Perezcious readers?
