Ahead of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 premiere, there was a lot of hype about how activated Dorit Kemsley is this year. Suffice to say, she’s lived up to that. The reaction to her this season is night and day from last year. There was speculation that Dorit would lose her diamond after Season 13. The possibility of that happening seems to have lit a fire under her. In the premiere, as she announced her separation from husband PK Kemsley, all eyes were on her. And it appears things will stay that way all season long. Here’s why Dorit stands out as RHOBH Season 14’s main character.
Dorit Kemsley spilled so much about her separation in the RHOBH Season 14 premiere alone
At a time when many Real Housewives are criticized for not sharing enough, Dorit arguably overshared in the premiere episode. But her refreshing honesty about her separation reminded viewers of the franchise’s glory days. In all of her one-on-one scenes with her fellow Housewives, Dorit unloaded about PK’s alcoholism. It was a far cry from insisting things were “better than ever” at the Season 13 reunion.
While there was lots of press coverage about their split, we learned new details in the premiere. For instance, she admitted that PK was the one who initiated the separation. In one of her many memorable confessionals, Dorit vented, “I chose to stick by PK’s side through a bunch of public scrutiny, like the bankruptcy, gambling debts, the suspected DUI, but for PK it’s like poof! Let’s just get a separation.”
Dorit’s openness is in stark contrast to her former BFF, Kyle Richards. In fact, the guarded way Kyle talks about her personal life continues to frustrate viewers and her fellow Housewives. Fans were happy Garcelle Beauvais called out Kyle for refusing to say Morgan Wade’s name and blaming the tabloids for the speculation.
Dorit isn’t letting up on Kyle Richards
The RHOBH Season 14 premiere ended on a cliffhanger, as Kyle and Dorit started to hash out their issues at Sutton Stracke’s party. And the preview for next week shows that Dorit isn’t backing down. We also know from the trailer that more fights are to come. It surely didn’t help that Kyle texted PK about the separation first.
Dorit is standing up for herself. In the process, she’s expressing a lot of the same frustrations about Kyle that some RHOBH co-stars (and viewers) share. Dorit called her manipulative and claimed she holds her friends to a higher standard. She shut down Kyle’s attempt to use a silly BravoCon game to justify her Amazon Live comments. “You think I’m some f*cking idiot,” she fired back. When Kyle walked away, Dorit slammed it as “so f*cking expected.”
As Dorit left the party, she announced she was “fed up.” “I’m no longer that girl you’ve seen the last two years,” she declared. You can say that again!
Dorit and Bozoma Saint John are RHOBH’s new dynamic duo
While her friendship with Kyle appears kaput, Dorit instantly bonded with new RHOBH Housewife Bozoma Saint John. It was funny for her to immediately overshare about her personal life, but Boz could relate. She confided in Dorit about her past separation from her late husband.
The two further bonded over their love of fashion and being the same age. They joked that they felt like the only two people in the world. In a confessional, Boz said she could tell she’d like Dorit right away. “I love Dorit, I think she’s fantastic,” she gushed, joking that they’re “in love.” The two are paired up on the After Show this year, and their chemistry is delightful. We’re definitely looking forward to watching this friendship blossom even more.
Fans are overwhelmingly Team Dorit
After the premiere aired, social media reactions from RHOBH viewers were almost unanimously pro-Dorit. Even before the season began, social media hyped up Dorit for her shady comments about Sutton. It was night and day from last year when fans accused Dorit of being ignorant and tone-deaf. I even remember people on social media calling for Season 13 to be her last. What a difference a year makes! I guess Real Housewives fans love a comeback story.
Popular Bravo fan accounts like bestofbravo posted, “Dorit announcing her separation from PK, revealing he’s an alcoholic, and smoking on camera? Oh, she’s clocked IN this season.” Tributes to the scene of her lighting a cigarette were everywhere on social media. Including art from creators like Drunk Drawn. And, despite Sutton’s shade, I saw plenty of praise for Dorit’s surrealist party outfit.
Dorit signed with new management
Dorit is already turning her RHOBH premiere star turn into new opportunities. Deadline reported that Dorit signed with a new agency. She is now represented by MVE, an IMG-backed agency whose clients include Love Island UK breakout Uma Jammeh. Further proving her popularity, the news was a top trending story.
When the news was announced, agents at MVE praised their client’s “signature style, sharp wit, and magnetic presence make her a natural fit for the MVE family and we are super excited to have her onboard.” The statement continued, “As we embark on this partnership, we’re looking forward to collaborating with Dorit to expand her brand across fashion, lifestyle, and beyond, ensuring her influence resonates far beyond the screen.” In other words, Dorit appears poised for new levels of success.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills can be streamed on Peacock.
