Lance Bass is "Tearin' Up" Joey Fatone's heart with a roast for his birthday — affectionately, of course.
The N'SYNC alum, 45, had several sassy remarks to share with his former bandmate on Tuesday, January 28, which was Fatone's 48th birthday.
First, the media personality posted two side-by-side photos of himself with Fatone on his Instagram Story — one that was recent, and one from the boy band days where they both rocked the classic '90s "frosted tips" look.
"Happy Birthday, @realjoeyfatone!" he wrote on the post. "Remember, with age comes wisdom — and yet, here we are."
But the Dancing With The Stars alum wasn't finished teasing, as he took an opportunity to shout out Fatone's latest venture — a nine week run in the cast of & Juliet on Broadway. In the show, Fatone is playing a character named Lance, which clearly delighted Bass. He posted an image of a signed photograph he'd sent to Fatone with a message. "Dear Joey," he wrote, "I'm so glad to see your dreams come true. You finally get to be Lance. Congratulations!"
Fatone and Bass have remained good friends through the years, having appeared together as themselves on How I Met Your Father in 2023. The whole band, including breakout star Justin Timberlake, have also reunited for several projects.
In 2023, Bass, Fatone, and fellow bandmates JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick collaborated with Timberlake, 43, for a song on the soundtrack of Trolls: Band Together called "Better Place." Timberlake has starred as Branch in the Trolls franchise since the first movie premiered in 2016. The members of N'SYNC also contributed a track called "Paradise" to Timberlake's 2024 album Everything I Thought It Was, and they even made a surprise appearance during one of Timberlake's concerts in Los Angeles.
Bass teased the idea of more N'SYNC reunion projects at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in 2024, mentioning that "conversations are being had."
