Donald Trump is turning the US government upside down, targeting immigrants and LGBT people. The first thing he did was to recognise only two genders: male and female, which will be assigned to each person at birth: "These sexes are not changeable and are based on a fundamental and incontrovertible reality".
This has meant that many trans people have had their identity documents changed, such as actress Hunter Schafer. The 'Euphoria' star went to renew her passport, but when she did so she was given the male gender: "Today I ran into a harsh reality and felt it was important to share this with whoever was listening to me," she explained in a TikTok video.

Hunter Schafer: "It makes my life more difficult"
"I am not making this post to generate fear, nor to create drama, nor to receive comfort, I don't need it. But I think it's worth posting to point out the reality of the situation and what is happening. I was shocked. I just didn't think it was really going to happen," she said, showing the change in her passport.

Although she made it clear that this does not affect her too much: "I don't give a shit if they put an 'M' on my passport. It doesn't change anything in me or my status as a trans woman, but it does make my life a little bit more difficult."
"I'm pretty sure this is going to come with having to reveal my identity to border patrol agents and all that sort of thing a lot more often than I'd like or is really necessary," she continued.
She claims to be more concerned about the trans community: "This is just my personal situation, but thinking about other trans women who might be going through the same thing, or other trans people, the list grows as much as the difficulties this will pose on a day-to-day basis."
"Trans people are beautiful. We will never cease to exist and I will never stop being trans. A letter in my passport cannot change who I am. Fuck this administration," she said.
