TLC’s I Love a Mama’s Boy star Janelle McAloon revealed she’s pregnant with her and her husband Josh McAloon’s fifth child despite her mother-in-law, Tina, being against the idea.
“Tina can say all she wants about us having a fifth kid or not,” Janelle, 33, said in a video shared by TLC via Instagram on Sunday, November 17. “But, joke’s on her because I’m pregnant. Surprise, bitch!”
The reality TV star then held up a positive pregnancy test to the camera and laughed as the clip faded to black.
Janelle and Josh revealed on her personal Instagram page that their fifth little one would be a boy after they donned white suits and sprayed each other with paint guns to learn the gender.
When the mid-season trailer for I Love a Mama’s Boy released on October 21, it hinted at even more tension brewing between Janelle and Tina as the two women argued over Janelle and Josh expanding their family.
“We want to have another baby,” Janelle said as she gestured to herself and Josh in the clip.
Tina, who was sitting beside Josh on the couch, looked back at him with wide eyes and pleaded, “Not now, guys. Come on.”
The fact that Tina interjected into the conversation clearly didn’t sit well with Janelle.
The soon-to-be mom of five shot back, “It is not your decision!”
Cameras quickly cut to a scene of Janelle in a confessional as she said, “Bitch, how dare you?”
Obviously, the fighting between the mother and daughter-in-law is nothing new, and things boiled over during the November 11 episode. Janelle learned that Josh had made the decision to turn their garage into a mother-in-law suite without consulting her beforehand.
“Josh went ahead and called Michele to make these plans, and he did not consult me at all,” Janelle told producers in a one-on-one interview. “I think Josh didn’t consult me because he knew how against it I would be. To lose the garage, to make a whole wing of the house for Tina, is just insane.”
Tina then walked in and made an additional request for Josh to add a kitchenette in the space so she would be able to cook meals on her own when she wanted. Their fight played out in front of the interior designer, Michele.
“You’re just not getting it. He told me to make myself at home, make myself comfortable, tell him what I need,” Tina angrily told Janelle before she turned to Michele and said, “Michele, I don’t want to fight in front of you but this is what we need.”
Tina then directed her anger back at Janelle and explained, “And I’m just really getting tired of you … What is yours is mine.”
The I Love a Mama’s Boy star was visibly shocked at her mother-in-law’s words and asked, “What is yours is mine? You are not his wife!”
However, Tina stood her ground and firmly stated that she “came first” in Josh’s life.
Michele spoke with producers in a private interview regarding Janelle and Tina’s spat and couldn’t help but side with Janelle.
“Janelle seems very upset with Josh,” the interior designer said. “I didn’t expect that kind of dynamic. If that happened to me, and the communication with my partner was not on point, I would be so shocked. And so, I understand where she’s coming from.”
