I'm A Celebrity star reveals the one reason for camp feuds that 'viewers don't see'

2 hours ago 6

Scarlette Douglas has lifted the lid on what causes so many bust-ups on I'm A Celebrity.

Fans of the hit ITV show have seen tons of explosive feuds between co-stars around the campfire over the years. And TV star Scarlette, who was in the jungle back in 2022, has revealed that it's not just hunger that gets people heated.

It may not come as a surprise to you that the celebs get irritable with one another when they're starving and sick of rice and beans. But what viewers may not realise, Scarlette says, is that it's "boredom" that plays a huge part in causing campmates to row with one another.

Scarlette told Sky Vegas and Daily Star: "The thing that really gets people, that [viewers] don’t realise, is there is that hunger [in the camp] – absolutely. You do get really hungry, but actually, it’s the boredom because if you don’t get picked for a trial or a challenge, then you’re just in that small camp for 24 hours, seven days a week.

Scarlette said I'm A Celeb feuds start because of "boredom"

"Once you’re in it – and you’re in such a small place – and you’re surrounded by people that aren’t normally people that you would surround yourself with, it can get to you. Maybe that is what’s going to potentially ruffle some feathers and get people bickering.”

And luckily, Scarlette's got some advice for any future campmates looking to avoid a row. She said: "My advice [for this year’s campmates] is, when you feel like you want to have a go or flip your lid – just walk away, breathe, count to 10, remember it’s a game show, and then come back to the situation."

Scarlette also revealed that there was a sweet moment with her campmates that never aired on her series. The 37-year-old TV star has revealed Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner and England footy star Jill Scott made little football t-shirts for camp while they were shacked up together in the jungle in 2022.

They turned the camp into an imaginary football team, with rugby ace Mike Tindall made captain as he was the "protector" of the group. She said: "My favourite unaired moment would have to be when Jill Scott and Owen Warner made us all these little football t-shirts and they made them out of origami with the bags that we were given our rations in.

Scarlette has advised the celebs this year to take a breather to avoid rows

"They made these little shirts, and they gave us each a player number and a position on the field. Mike Tindall was made captain because he was so good at being the overall protector of the group. It’s such a shame, because we all thought that it would come out and this moment would be on air, so that we can watch it back and reminisce on this moment – and they never aired it.

She said Owen and Jill made everybody little football t-shirts

"It was lovely that we all got to keep that for ourselves. I might have been a midfielder [position they gave me] because I held everybody together and I’m always the one that lifts morale. It was just a sweet and beautiful moment."

Scarlette joined the likes of Hollyoaks star Owen Warner, footballer Jill Scott, England rugby star Mike Tindall, Boy George and Charlene White in the jungle back in 2022. This year's I'm A Celebrity line-up includes the likes of Strictly star Oti Mabuse, N-Dubz singer Tulisa, McFly rocker Danny Jones, Corrie star Alan Halsall and former boxer Barry McGuigan.
