Most Haunted star Yvette Fielding has revealed how to get rid of ghosts that might be haunting your home - and it is far more obvious than you might think

Have you ever felt like you weren’t alone in your own home? Heard things go bang in the night or found items go missing of their own accord? Well, you could be living with the ghost. Most Haunted star Yvette Fielding is Britain's go-to ghost hunter and since launching the hit show, she has learned a thing or two about spotting spooks - and how to banish them.

New research by Ring has found that a quarter (26%) of Brits have either thought, or are currently convinced, they’re living in a haunted house. But how do you get rid of these undead intruders? Well Yvette, 56, explains getting rid of ghosts could be easier than you think.

The TV star tells the Mirror that the best way is to simply ask them to leave. “Nine out of ten times, if you show respect, they will leave,” she says. “The best approach is to talk out loud. Say something like, ‘Please don’t scare me or my family. You’re frightening us, and I don’t like it. If it continues, I’ll have to ask for help to ask you to leave. Please respect our family.’”

Over the years on Most Haunted, which ran from 2002 to 2019, fans have been transfixed as they watched Yvette be locked in a room by a ghost, be physically assaulted and even temporarily possessed. But the presenter maintains many of her interactions have also been positive. “I have had some wonderful and thought provoking experiences, and messages from beyond the grave which tells us what life after death is like,” she muses. “I’m not afraid of dying,” she reflects. “I can’t wait to reunite with my dad and other family members. We need to stop fearing death—it’s a transition to a beautiful place where we’ll be with our loved ones again.”

The star is currently touring a stage show version of Most Haunted and publishes new episodes on YouTube. But while she has proved herself as a successful presenter and businesswoman, she is yet to convince many naysayers about the existence of ghosts. “Nothing is fake!” she asserts. “We experience amazing phenomena, like tapping and knocking, and we often receive names, dates, and messages from spirits. Science should be taking this seriously and that they are not.”

Mum-of-two Yvette also revealed who she would like to pass the mantle to when she finally retires her ghost hunting days - her daughter. Mary, 25, has been a frequent presence on Most Haunted, and was popular with fans. “She’s a medic in the RAF—an incredibly brave woman and hard as nails. The fans absolutely loved her, so if she ever leaves the RAF and Most Haunted was to carry on she would take over from me."

Yvette she plans on coming back as a spirit when she dies and haunting one of the country’s most famous houses. The 56-year-old says: “I’m going to come back as a ghost and haunt the life out of whoever’s in 10 Downing Street.”

Not only this, but Yvette has also claimed she plans to play tricks on the future Prime Minister. She says, “I’ll write ‘Get out!’ on the mirrors and scare the cr*p out of them."
