MachineGames' upcoming Indiana Jones adventure game packs enough cutscenes to make for almost two feature films. The first-person game is just two weeks away from launch, but hardcore fans of the adventurous archaeologist will find it hard to wait that long after learning how much content is in it.

The news comes from MachineGames' creative director Axel Torvenius and Jens Andersson, design director (spotted by Gamespot), who revealed that the Great Circle is "the biggest and longest game that MachineGames have ever done."

The creatives answered over a hundred questions in the rapid-fire interview with MinnMax, revealing a lot of new information about the game. Speaking about the length of cutscenes in the game, Torvenius revealed that there are "roughly three hours and 45 or 40 minutes or something along those lines."

Indy can change disguises at any point in the game, and players won't instantly fail during stealth sequences. As for the heavily marketed sequence showing a boulder chasing Indy, the creatives declined to comment on whether it's a flashback sequence to Raiders of the Lost Ark or a new element.

While the game will feature a mix of linear levels and open spaces, players will be able to jump back into previously explored areas while progressing through the story. The Great Circle is set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade, with its narrative taking place over "a couple of weeks", said Andersson.

Early previews for the game have been positive, so here's hoping that Indy fans are getting a game worthy of the character's legacy.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Windows and Steam on December 9, 2024, and PS5 in spring 2025.
