They are the IT couple of Hollywood and now fans are in a frenzy with the news that Tom Holland and Zendaya are engaged to be married. The pair, who famously enjoy a low-key life when they’re not filming, are thought to have got engaged over the holidays between ‘Christmas and New Year, according to TMZ- after Zendaya set tongues wagging when she flashed a diamond engagement ring during her appearance at the Golden Globes on Sunday.
It is believed Tom got down on one knee, after waiting months for just the right moment, the site added, ‘in a very intimate setting in one of Zendaya's family homes in the United States.’ And it’s thought it was just the two of them when the Spiderman star, 28, popped the question in a proposal which was ‘romantic and not over the top’.
Tom reportedly had the blessing of Zendaya’s father, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, months before asking the stunning actress to marry him, and the outlet reports that it was important he had his future father-in-law’s approval as he is at heart quite traditional. As for Dune star Zendaya’s family, they are thought to be over the moon at the couple’s upcoming nuptials, with sources claiming they’ love’ Tom and see him as a ‘class act’.
The good-looking couple, who began dating in 2021, got everyone talking at the Golden Globes - and it wasn’t just for Zendaya’s stunning custom burnt copper Louis Vuitton gown and new bob hairstyle, or her acting nomination for tennis movie Challengers. The 28-year-old was also showing off quite the sparkler - a solitaire diamond - on her finger, which has been valued at $500,000, which had fans immediately asking if she and Tom had taken the next big step in their three-year relationship.
Speculating online, fans shared their belief that the star wouldn’t have worn the ring if it wasn’t an engagement ring - one hilariously writing, 'My mom says Zendaya is wearing an engagement ring, can we get fact-checkers on this?' But it was when fans spotted what looked to be a small tattoo of the letter ‘t’ near the top of the actress’s ribcage that they really lost it. 'Zendaya showing off a supposed engagement ring and a "t" tattoo wasn't on my golden globes bingo card but I'm loving it,' another tweeted.
The couple, who met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, seem to eschew the flashy Hollywood lifestyle and already live together in Tom’s $3 million London pad with their two dogs, where they are often seen walking their dogs, or grabbing a coffee locally.
Tom, speaking recently to Men’s Health, made his desire to settle down clear when he admitted that he would be happy with hanging out with his kids and playing a bit of golf - and giving up his acting career. 'When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore. Golf and dad—and I will just disappear off the face of the earth.'
Speaking on Jay Shetty’s podcast in 2022, Tom also explained why he prefers to keep his and Zendaya’s relationship out of the spotlight, saying, 'My relationship is the thing I keep most sacred. I don't talk about it. I try my best to keep it as private as possible.' He added, 'We both feel like that is the healthiest way for us to move on as a couple, so I do try to keep as removed from Hollywood as possible.'
