In a shocking twist, Braian Nahuel Paiz, a 24-year-old Argentinian waiter, has spoken out publicly for the first time after being accused of supplying drugs to former One Direction star Liam Payne in the days leading to his untimely death. Paiz, who had met Payne in Buenos Aires at a high-end Puerto Madero restaurant, insists that, while they shared an intimate connection that included drug use, he "never supplied Liam with narcotics or accepted any money."
The night that changed everything
According to Paiz, their connection was purely coincidental. He claims Payne first approached him casually during dinner with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy and two friends. "We exchanged contact details, and he reached out to me," Paiz recounted, insisting that the friendship was not based on drug dealings.
Their next encounter, he revealed, was on October 2, when Payne allegedly invited him to his hotel room at the Hyatt in Palermo. "Liam was already under the effects of drugs when we met," Paiz said, clarifying that he had never provided Payne with any substances but admitted to joining him in consuming whiskey that night.
"We spent the night together"
On October 13, just days before Payne's tragic fall, Paiz joined the singer at another hotel in Palermo, the CasaSur, where they spent the night together. "Yes, we took drugs, but there was no aggression," Paiz insisted. "He was very sweet and even checked if I was okay."
Paiz's statements are further complicated by text messages Payne allegedly sent him, some offering money. Paiz, however, firmly stated, "I never took money. He wanted to give me clothes as a keepsake, but I left them behind on purpose."
Close friends also speak out
This revelation follows another statement from Rogelio "Roger" Nores, a close friend of Payne, who recently defended himself against claims that he abandoned the singer. Nores, identified in local media as a longtime friend of Payne's, emphasized, "I never abandoned Liam. I was at his hotel three times that day." He expressed heartbreak over Payne's passing, maintaining that he was with Payne up to 40 minutes before the incident.
The Argentinian authorities are not only investigating Paiz but also a hotel worker, Ezequiel David Pereyra, and are searching for Payne's missing Rolex, reportedly last seen on Payne's wrist the day he died. Judicial sources confirmed they "could not locate the watch in his room or in the suspects' residences," adding further intrigue to an already tragic story.
The investigation continues as fans and family await answers in the wake of Payne's shocking death, while those involved hope to clear their names amidst sensationalized accusations and personal heartbreak.
