Netflix has acquired global streaming rights to the Israeli drama series Bad Boy from Ron Leshem and Hagar Ben-Asher.
The eight-part series will launch globally in 2025, with the first run on Israeli channel HOT followed by a global launch in Netflix’s 190 territories. The series stars Daniel Chen, Havtamo Farda and Guy Manster.
Inspired by a true story, Bad Boy revolves around Dean, who was held in a cruel juvenile detention facility in his youth and befriends a mysterious teenage prisoner serving time for murder. Twenty years later, Dean is a star comedian who is desperate to keep his record of youthful imprisonment a secret.
Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Ron Leshem is best known for his work on Israeli TV series Euphoria, on which Sam Levinson based his HBO show. He will serve as showrunner on the series, which is written and directed by Hagar Ben-Asher (The Slut, Mish’olim and Dead Women Walking).
Bad Boy is produced and co-financed by The North Road Company and Sipur, who serve as co-studios on the project, with Israeli Broadcaster HOT and Tedy Productions producing.
