ITV I'm A Celebrity's Ant and Dec floored as star breaks show trend

I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were left astonished during Monday's episode as Dean McCullough broke a show trend.

Only recently, Dean has been consistently nominated for the dreaded Bushtucker Trials, yet he's struggled to win stars for his campmates.

In a previous challenge, the Sinister Sarcophagus, Dean quickly uttered the infamous phrase: "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" while in another trial, Drown in the Dumps with GK Barry, the pair failed to secure even one star.

But on Monday night, Dean tackled his sixth Bushtucker Trial, Jack and the Scream Stalk, which involved a daunting heights challenge featuring a giant beanstalk and a castle.

The presenters detailed that there were 12 stars up for grabs, each numbered, which Dean had to collect within 12 minutes. His journey began by scaling the beanstalk, grabbing stars along the way, reports the Express.

Upon reaching the top, and the trial's highest point, he was tasked with assembling a golden egg before heading to the castle for the remaining stars.

As Dean ascended the beanstalk, he braved various 'hell holes' filled with creatures like green ants, cockroaches, giant mealworms, and spiders to retrieve each star. He then had to assemble the golden egg, which represented the fifth star.

Finally, he had to conquer the castle, where the remaining seven stars were up for grabs, with Dean needing to climb the castle wall to reach each of the hell holes.

However, as Dean grew higher up the castle wall and it began to tip, he ran out of strength to hold on, meaning he let go of the hand holds, where he dramatically fell and lost out on the final two stars.

Hosts Ant and Dec were left in disbelief over the achievement as they gave Dean a round of applause at his personal best score of 10 out of 12 stars. Meanwhile, an elated Dean made his way back to camp to let them know the good news.

It comes as Dean was defended by his best friend, Rachel Todd, on Thursday's episode of Lorraine over his lack of winning stars and Bushtucker Trials success.
