The Chase: Shaun Wallace answers 'dad joke' question incorrectly

ITV’s beloved game show The Chase was embroiled in a brutal fix row after viewers witnessed Shaun Wallace suffering a succession of wrong answers.

On Monday, the Dark Destroyer returned to screens to face 20-year-old Rachel during the chaser round.

The student had impressively earned £4,000 in her cash builder and despite this, she opted for Shaun’s low offer of £1,000.

However, as host Bradley Walsh asked them the same questions the notoriously hard-to-beat chaser oddly answered incorrectly.

Shaun first went wrong after responding that lambswool becomes heavier when it burns.

This pushed Rachel further into the lead as the correct answer was steel wool.

The next question was: “What part of the Statue of Liberty is approximately 29 feet long?”

While Rachel correctly answered the torch, Shaun made another misstep by choosing the the crown.

The Chase fans were even more shocked when the barrister had another slip-up after Bradley quizzed: “A corny joke or pun is known by what expression?”

The former Mastermind winner guessed practical joke, rather than the right answer, a dad joke.

Then both Shaun and Rachel incorrectly worked out that the US has only one state beginning with T - rather than two.

Fans quickly took to social media with their reaction at his nightmare round, including @Simo21537664 who remarked: ”Shaun must be letting her get through.”

As an unconvinced @Andysmi53830201 fumed: “Shaun Wallace doesn't know what a dad joke is? Oh f**k off! he's a mastermind champion and here he is helping to fix The Chase.”

@itrieds0hard noted: ”Shaun gets more wrong in this round than the other Chasers usually do in the whole show.”

While @DrSlicer suggested: “Surely Shaun is letting her get through. He can't be that stoopid. Surely.” (sic)
