The Chase star Shaun Wallace has given fans a rare glimpse into his personal life by confirming his relationship status. Known as The Dark Destroyer on the popular ITV quiz show, the 65 year old barrister is usually quite reserved about his off-screen life, but recently confessed to being "in a relationship".
Speaking on the How To Be 60 podcast with Loose Women's Kaye Adams and co-host Karen MacKenzie, Shaun revealed he isn't married but is content with that. He said: "I suppose I'm married to my career. Put it that way. I like that. I prefer that and I'm happier."
When asked directly if he had a partner, he responded: "Yes, I'm in a relationship."
Kaye then mentioned she had tried to delve deeper into his life but "hit a brick wall". When questioned about children, Shaun confirmed: "No, I have never had a child."

He went on to explain his decision not to start a family was a conscious one made during his early career struggles as a barrister, stating: "It was a conscious reason when I was a young struggling barrister. I didn't think it would be right to bring up a child when you're trying to climb to the top of that greasy pole.", reports the Mirror.
Shaun Wallace, known for his role on The Chase, has never had children of his own but takes pride in being a godfather to many, stating: "And I've never regretted that decision. I've got 15 godchildren. "Two of them are called Shaun and I'm the best godfather in the world. I probably would have been a great dad but I've got no regrets in relation to that."

He also played a significant part in his ex-partner's child's life, who he considers akin to a daughter, sharing: "I watched her grow into a lovely young lady. She got a first-class honours degree recently and she got her doctorate the other day and I was there."
A stalwart of The Chase since its inception in June 2009, Shaun, alongside Mark Labbett, remains one of the original Chasers on the show, with Anne Hegarty joining in the second season.
