Kevin Costner has a spring in his step after ringing in the new year with Jennifer Lopez and other friends in Aspen. A source exclusively tells In Touch that the former Yellowstone star is inspired by J. Lo and is looking to increase his romantic appeal by getting into tip-top shape following his milestone 70th birthday.
“Kevin keeps himself pretty lean and healthy but he’s now on a mission to add some more muscle and see how fit he can get this year,” the insider shares of the Horizon actor, who celebrated another trip around the sun on January 18. “He wants to be able to whip off his shirt and show off a six-pack like he used to back in his heartthrob days and he’s been told by his trainer that it’s entirely possible to achieve, even at his age so he’s pretty pumped up.”
The source dishes that J. Lo’s “incredibly fit” body and “eternally young” aura played a “big factor” in Kevin’s hunch to up his fitness game.
“She’s among those inspiring him to hit the gym and prove age is just a number,” the source continues. “Of course, it’s going to take a huge amount of dedication, and not just in the gym but also in the kitchen.”
Kevin is on a strict diet, which consists of a “high-protein plan to go along with his training regime that his personal chef will be strictly following. His goal is to add 10 pounds of muscle in time for summer!”
The Bodyguard star and J. Lo, 55, had fans spiraling over the holidays after they were spotted at Kemo Sabe in Aspen on December 27, 2024. While shopping at the celebrity hot spot Western store together, Kevin and Jennifer engaged in conversation that included lots of smiles. They weren’t alone, though, as their friends joined in on the soiree, including Jennifer’s 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max.
After the “Jenny From the Block” artist and Kevin’s public meetup became the talk of Hollywood, their friends admitted that they “would make a super fun match.”
“J. Lo expressed her love of Yellowstone, as well as her disappointment over Kevin’s departure, and he was hugely flattered,” a source told Life & Style in a story published on January 15. “She was quick to let him know she adores Horizon, too, which went a long way to stroke his ego.”
The outlet’s insider pointed out that “timing is everything, so there’s certainly a chance these two could make a go of it. Plus, pals on both sides think that J. Lo and Kevin would make a super fun match.”
Kevin and J. Lo are both single after they recently experienced headline-making divorces from respective marriages.
The Waterworld actor and his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, ended their 18-year marriage after In Touch confirmed she filed for divorce in May 2023.
Kevin and Christine’s divorce turned ugly over child support after she requested her ex pay $248,444 in child support for their minor children, Cayden Costner, 17, Hayes Costner, 15, and Grace Costner, 12. Judge Thomas Anderle ordered the family patriarch to pay half of Christine’s asking price at $129,755 per month in September 2023. Kevin and Christine, 50, finalized their divorce in February 2024.
Despite going through the public divorce, Christine quickly moved on and was spotted out with former neighbor Josh Connor in July 2023, two months after she filed the paperwork to legally end her marriage with Kevin. Although Christine claimed Josh, 49, was a friend under oath in August 2023, People reported more than one year later that they were engaged in January.
J. Lo, for her part, filed for divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck on August 20, 2024. They reunited following their initial 2004 split in May 2021 and tied the knot the following year. Bennifer eloped in Las Vegas, Nevada, and exchanged vows again in a ceremony held at his Georgia estate prior to their latest breakup.
Fans suspected there was trouble in paradise between Ben and J. Lo when she started attending red carpet events solo. The rumor mill went into overdrive when Jennifer arrived at the 2024 Met Gala solo while serving as one of the cochairs of fashion’s biggest night.
Later that month, In Touch exclusively reported that the former Gigli costars were “headed for a divorce” after Ben, 52, moved out of their shared home in Los Angeles. Despite their separation, they continued to come together for family events that involved their children.
