Jenna Dewan’s fiancé, Steve Kazee, seemingly had a strong reaction to the news of her ex-husband, Channing Tatum, splitting from Zoë Kravitz.
“HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ….” Steve, 49, wrote via his Instagram Story in repetitive letters shortly after the news of their split broke on Tuesday, October 29.
A few hours later, in a follow-up slide, the Broadway star wrote, “Guess a guy can’t laugh about a houseplant TikTok in today’s world,” referencing a video he posted after his “HA HA” comment.
Reps for Jenna, 43, later confirmed to US Weekly on October 30 that Steve’s post was not referencing Channing, 44, who was married to the Step Up actress for more than a decade, and Zoë’s split.
“He posted ‘hahaha’ right before the meme tagging Jenna. If we go to the post now it will show the meme about not watering the plants,” the rep told the outlet.
Multiple sources confirmed to People that Channing and Zoë, 35, had broken their engagement and split after three years of dating on October 29. The pair were first romantically linked in 2021 after working together on Zoë’s directorial debut Blink Twice, which Channing starred in.
After being spotted all over New York, the A-listers confirmed their relationship in October 2021 by sharing photos of their Martin Scorsese-inspired Halloween costumes from the classic film Taxi Driver. Almost two years later, Zoë and Channing’s engagement was reported by People in October 2023, with her later appearing to show off an engagement ring as they were seen leaving a Halloween party.
Before dating Zoë, Channing met Jenna on the set of Step Up in 2006. They started dating soon after and married in 2009. The pair welcomed their daughter, Everly, in May 2013, before announcing their separation in 2018. Jenna filed for divorce later that year, sparking a lengthy court battle that grew contentious and lasted over six years before finally reaching a settlement last month.
Despite the lengthy legal battle, Jenna and Channing have remained strong in the promise to amicably coparent their daughter.
“It’s always a journey. It never ends,” the mom of one told Romper in January. “You just learn as you go and get better at certain things, and for me, Evie will always be my top priority. I just continually put her first. That’s how I can manage all hard things.”
Jenna moved on to the Tony Award-winning actor shortly after her split with Channing, first being spotted together in 2018. Steve proposed to Jenna in February 2020, just a month before they welcomed their first child, a son named Callum. Although they’ve been engaged for four years, they still haven’t made it down the aisle.
“My family’s like, ‘When guys, when?’ We’ll get there. I promise, we’re getting there,” Jenna told Us Weekly of their future nuptials in June 2023. “We at least have the location, so we’ve gotten [a] step further. But it’s just been so busy, honestly. Life has been so busy, and work’s been busy.”
Jenna and Steve later welcomed their second child, a daughter named Rhiannon Lee Kathryn, in June.
