At the beginning of this year, Jennifer Lopez was on quite a roll. In addition to announcing her new album, This Is Me… Now, the actress also released a movie, a documentary, and a full North American tour. But, as her music began getting a not-so-warm welcome from her fans, Lopez’s tour aspirations fell short. After initially canceling a few shows and spinning it into a rebrand, Lopez soon announced that the tour was canceled altogether.
But while the reasons for the cancelation were all pretty obvious to fans given the low ticket sales, Lopez has continued the narrative that she just wanted to stay home with her 16-year-old kids Max and Emme.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” Lopez wrote at the time in her newsletter OntheJLo. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
Most recently, Lopez opened up about the decision in an episode of the Graham Norton Show.
“I decided to take the summer off and be home with the kids and it was the best thing I think I’ve ever done,” she told Norton. “It’s not like me to do that and when it comes up, I like to apologize to the fans because I know a lot of them were coming out.”
Lopez then remembered a “very touching” moment with a fan outside of her hotel. According to her, the fan had said they had tickets to see her before Lopez started apologizing. “Don’t say sorry,” the fan then told Lopez. “We love you.”

“I started crying right away,” Lopez added.
As it turns out, the fan was sitting in the front row of the show. Lopez then stood up and gave him a heartfelt hug. “I got in the car and literally cried, it was very hard for me to cancel, I’ve never done that before,” she told her fan, who kept nodding in agreement.
“I’m holding it together,” she later said as she returned to the star-studded couch clearly emotional.
From the looks of it, Lopez will continue with the narrative that canceling the tour was a personal decision rather than a professional one. But, knowing that her separation date with ex-husband Ben Affleck was April 26, 2024, we’re thinking both are true.
