Not having it! Jennifer Lopez reportedly abruptly left an autograph signing after a fan asked her about the allegations that have been made against her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The “On the Floor” singer, 55, recently attended a screening of her upcoming film Unstoppable at AFI FEST 2024, as well as a Q&A session, Daily Mail reported on Thursday, October 31. During an autograph signing on the way out, J. Lo was reportedly asked, “Do you have any comments about Diddy and the allegations?”
The Atlas star chose not to respond to the question and stopped signing autographs, according to local media. She reportedly immediately walked out the door as fans shouted, “Don’t leave!” However, J. Lo is said to have ignored their request and left the event.
J. Lo and Diddy, 54, dated on and off from 1999 to 2001. They had a high-profile relationship at the time and made headlines for a December 1999 arrest. Diddy — then known as Puff Daddy — was with the “Jenny From the Block” hitmaker when shots were fired inside a nightclub in Times Square. The pair fled the scene and were chased by police before they were both arrested. A prosecutor later claimed in court that the incident was the result of an altercation between Diddy and another club patron, The New York Times reported at the time. The charges against J. Lo were dropped, and Diddy was acquitted in 2001.
J. Lo, who met the Bad Boy Records founder while working on her first album, On the 6, told Vanity Fair in 2011 that her relationship with Diddy was never the same after their arrest.
“It wasn’t a great time in my life,” she explained. “It was scary. And we broke up many times before that, and got back together and broke up again, and nobody knew about it. It was very tempestuous. Towards the end, it was emotionally exhausting. It was good that I was young.”
The exes’ romance has come to light again amid Diddy’s ongoing legal issues. On September 16, the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper was arrested on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. A grand jury alleged that Diddy had abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to “fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct,” according to the unsealed indictment obtained by In Touch.
Diddy pleaded not guilty to all charges and has denied any wrongdoing. He is being held without bail at the federal Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, while awaiting his trial on May 5, 2025.
Several others have come forward with allegations against Diddy, including claims that he sexually abused minors, which were revealed by a Houston law firm representing 120 alleged victims. The rapper and his lawyers requested to “prohibit” further claims and statements from prospective witnesses to ensure a “fair trial,” according to court documents obtained by In Touch on Monday, October 21.
“Several of these lawyers have made shockingly prejudicial and false allegations of sexual assault and abuse of minors, the details of which need not be repeated,” the filing read. “Each day that passes brings a fresh wave of publicity, often at the direction of accusers and their counsel, further prejudicing Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial. Therefore, we respectfully request that any response be filed on October 30, 2024.”
While J. Lo has not publicly commented on her relationship with Diddy or the allegations made against him amid his legal issues, other people in her life have come forward to discuss the matters. Her ex-husband Ojani Noa, for example, whom she was married to from February 1997 to January 1998, blamed Diddy for their short-lived marriage.
“Part of that divorce was Diddy’s fault,” the Cuban actor, 50, said on Despierta América. “When Sony came and paid her the millions she got, there was Puffy [Combs], who was going to be one of the producers of several tracks on the first album, On the 6. That’s where the deception, the lies, the separation started.”
Ojani continued, “I was in Los Angeles opening my restaurant and she was between Miami and New York working on the album. When I could, I would go to be with her. There, in that distance, in that separation, was where the deception started.”
